Saturday, November 26, 2022 has been designated Small Business Saturday and Latino business owners are hoping to receive a boost from the blitz of media supporting local businesses. From restaurants and food trucks to auto repair shops and detailing shops, there are over 150 Latino owned businesses in the Mid Michigan area. Hair salons, spas and tanning salons, are just some of the Latino owned businesses that deserve a look for the quality that they provide.

While Latino-owned businesses were hit hard during the pandemic, they often received less financial help from grants and or loans to keep them afloat. About one in five small businesses in the U.S. are owned by Latinos. Studies have shown that while Latino owned businesses have grown at a greater rate than non Latino owned businesses, loans and grants were approved at a higher rate for those non Latino owned businesses than Latino owned businesses. This in turn, made life even more difficult to survive when the pandemic hit.
