Elections will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025 and YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

Registering within 14 Days of an Election

You can register to vote and vote in person up until and on Election Day at your city or township clerk’s office. We encourage you to register and vote early if you can. You must be in your city or township clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Election Day in order to register and vote in the general election.
You’ll need to bring your proof of eligibility and residency.
To be eligible to register to vote you must be:

• A Michigan resident (at the time you register) and a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days (when you vote)
• A United States citizen
• At least 18 years of age (when you vote)
• Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison

Proof of residency:
You must show proof of where you live. Documents must have your name and current address.
You can show a digital copy of documents.
Acceptable documents include:

• Michigan driver’s license or state ID
• Current utility bill
• Bank statement
• Paycheck or government check
• Other government document

What better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month than by providing opportunities for our Hispanic communities to thrive during these challenging times.

We are excited to share our next opportunity to engage with Spanish-speaking families in our community: “Cafecito con Pan” (webinar in Spanish). This virtual session will focus on the important topic: “Encontrando la paz en medio de la tormenta” (Finding Peace in the Midst of the Storm)  with our guest speaker, Elisa Pérez-Arellano, Founder, CEO & Lead Therapist | Inclusive Empowerment Services, LLC and, Executive Producer, Host and Therapist| Recetas Que Sanan. 

In this session, they’ll explore how to recognize their inner strength and create moments of calm even in challenging times. We will also share opportunities within 4-H and how they can participate in our programs.

Saturday, October 11, 2025, the Latino Business Conexion’s of Michigan will host its Inaugural Scholarship Dance to held at the Causeway Bay Hotel in Lansing, Michigan. Beginning at 8:00pm hear the sounds spinning from DJ E-NYCE and then get ready for Orquesta Ritmo! Food, raffles, open cash bar!

Orquesta Ritmo are well known for their, Cuban style music. The troupe has traveled around the Mid-West and performed for venues all over Michigan and as far south as Dayton, Ohio. The group earned a number of accolades along the way including a Tribute from the Michigan State Legislature. In 1984, the group grew to its current 10-piece orchestra. Throughout the years, the group has shared the stage with a number of recording artists such as Los Lobos, Salsa great Oscar D’Leon, Pete Escovido, Wycliff Gordon at the E. Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival, and The Bangles among others.

The Fledge in Lansing, Michigan will show the War of the Flea documentary on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 6:00pm at the The Fledge in Lansing, Michigan. The reviews on this film has been very good.

War of the Flea is a real-life David v. Goliath story of Xicano students at Michigan State University. The documentary examines how they forced a major university to establish a Xicano/Latino Studies program despite their small numbers and how an increasingly marginalized Xicano/Latino community was barraged by attack after attack from the white power structure.

Ernesto Mireles is a Professor of Social Justice Studies at Prescott College, author of the award winning book Insurgent Aztlan, a strategy coach for organizers, and creator of The Reality Dysfunction Podcast.
