The first Mixer in 2024 of the Latino Business Conexión of Michigan (LBCM) took place at the Grand Cafe Sir Pizza in Lansing’s Old Town District Tuesday, February 20, 2024. With about a 100 people in attendance, there rebirth of the Latino business community continues into 2024. With plenty of small business owners, professionals and community members, the evening’s energy was evident from the start and left a great impression of great things to come in 2024. In attendance were people from around Greater Lansing, Flint and Saginaw.
The LBCM got it start in October 2023 with the areas first Latino Business Expo with over 60 vendors and several hundred attendees. In November 2024 they finished strong with 140 attendees at their first ever Mixer. The Co-Chairs are Elena Herrera, owner of Ledger Ally, Pedro Gonzalez owner of Behind the Business with new officer Hope Lopez. The newly minted organization are led by these three who are all under the age of 31 years old.
One of the goals of the Latino Business Conexion of Michigan was to identify and help develop a younger generation of leaders. At the same time, we are appreciative and respectful of an older generation that will be providing insight and wisdom in a great partnership.
This was not just about setting up a much needed Latino business association. It was about bringing the Latino business community together. A younger tech savvy generation combined with an older and experienced generation. On the agenda for the rest of 2024 are field trips to Comerica Park to watch the Detroit Tigers, to Chicago, a golf scramble outing, three more mixers, and a couple workshops starting up in early summer. Feldman Chevrolet of Lansing has already committed to sponsoring several of the events.
