Cafecito Caliente and Title Sponsor Lake Trust Credit Union has named Dr. Peter Cooke from the Cristo Rey Family Health Center as the 2026 Cafecito Community Partner of the Year. The 4th Annual Awards Gala will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Cadillac Room located in REO Town.
Dr. Peter Cooke has dedicated more than four decades to serving the Lansing community as a compassionate and skilled internist. He completed his medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico, followed by his internship and residency at South Baltimore General Hospital.
After his training, Dr. Cooke made Lansing his home, where he has spent more than 40 years providing dedicated care to the local community. For the past 20 years, he has practiced as an internist at Cristo Rey Family Health Center, where he focuses on serving medically underserved patients and the Spanish-speaking population.
Fluent in Spanish and deeply grateful for the education and training he received in Mexico, Dr. Cooke has made it his mission to give back to the Hispanic community in Lansing. His commitment to accessible, culturally responsive healthcare has made a lasting impact on countless patients and families who might otherwise face barriers to quality medical care.
