The City of Lansing’s 3rd Annual Legacy of Cesar Chavez Dinner is set for the Doubletree Hotel on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Julie Chavez Rodriguez will be the Keynote Speaker for this year. She is the Granddaughter of Cesar Chavez. In 2024, the Andres Chavez, the grandson of Cesar was the Keynote and last year, Cesar’s son-in-law Arturo Rodriguez offered the Keynote speech.
Julie Chavez Rodriguez is an American former political consultant and was the campaign manager for Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign, transitioning to that role from President Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign.
From 2008 to 2016, Chavez Rodriguez served in the Obama administration, initially working for the United States Secretary of the Interior and later in the White House Office of Public Engagement. In 2016, She was appointed state directory for Senator Kamala Harris and from 2017 to 2019 served on Harris’s 2020 presidential campaign. In 2020, Biden, the eventual Democratic presidential nominee, hired Chavez Rodriguez as senior advisor for Latino Outreach in his presidential campaign. In 2021, Chavez Rodriguez was appointed to be the director of Biden’s White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. In 2022 she was appointed senior advisor to the president, and in 2023, as his campaign manager.
