The Latino Advisory Committee (LAC) proudly announces Annual Latino Achievement Ceremony.
The annual tradition of celebrating Latino students graduating from the Lansing School District began 1972 as a way of recognizing a population that graduated less than 50% of those enrolled in 1972.
We the members of the Latino Advisory Committee asks the community to join us in congratulating the students of Eastern, Everett, Sexton and Woodcreek from the Lansing School District as they reach a milestone that 40-50 years ago, was not always the easiest to attain for that generation.
Historically, the LAC gives away up to $3,000 in scholarships to students each year at the Ceremony. More details to come. Last year the LAC awarded $5,000 in scholarships to 10 students. A printed advertisement booklet will be published and individuals, businesses, and organizations will be able to add their advertisements. More details to come soon.
The Latino Advisory Committee was created in April of 1972 to recognize, educate and empower parents to take a proactive role in the educational and personal development of their children. We work in partnership with the Lansing School District to advocate for Latino families and their students throughout the calendar year.
