The 16th Annual Tony Noyola Memorial Golf Outing will be held at the Centennial Acres Golf Course in Sunfield, Michigan. The cost to register is $80 per person and $320 for a foursome. Even if you are new to playing golf, this one is a golf scramble.
Definition of a Golf Scramble: A scramble is a golf format that requires 2-4 players per team and is used for tournaments and charity events. Each team member tees off and then the best shot is selected. All members then take their next shot within one club-length of that spot. This process is repeated until the ball is holed.
This is such a great outing with proceeds going to benefit youth sports in the Greater Lansing area. The Tony Noyola Memorial Scholarship Fund has raised over $15,000 to date.

On a clear August afternoon in 2007, Tony Noyola was doing one of the things he enjoyed, preparing for a softball game at Ranney Ballpark. His sudden death brought family, friends, co-workers, and people who barely knew the family together at a memorial service that will never be forgotten.
Tony was a father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was active in youth soccer, basketball, baseball and softball as well as adult softball, baseball and basketball. He coached many of his children’s soccer teams in DeWitt and was a softball and baseball umpire around the state in high school and college. Noyola was an Amateur Softball Association certified umpire and served as the District 11 Amateur Softball Association Commissioner. He was also a volleyball official for Michigan High School Athletic Association. A graduate of Lansing’s Eastern High School, Noyola worked directly with youth and adult sports while employed at Lansing Parks and Recreation for 27 years.
Tony has been honored for many of his admirable qualities and contributions to the field of parks and recreation as well as the Lansing community:
- 2007 Edward R. Vandervert Memorial Award
- City of Lansing Mayor, Virg Bernero, proclaimed August as Juan Antonio ‘Tony’ Noyola Month.
- Michigan Amateur Softball Association (MASA) Hall of Fame
- mParks Honorary Recreation Leadership award
It is important to the profession of parks and recreation that Tony be remembered in the community he loved so much. In his honor, the “Tony Noyola Memorial Fund” was established, in 2007, by the Lansing Parks and Recreation Department. Funds provide underprivileged youth the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports programs.
