If you only knew what we, Cafecito Caliente are up to. Way too many projects almost ready to be announced. Fun stuff too! With the help of friends from Feldman Chevrolet of Lansing, the Lansing Lugnuts, and MSU Federal Credit Union, we are going to hit more of the 40 ideas that I had written in 2007 that I thought would build community. A big shout out to the folks at Feldman Chevrolet of Lansing. They took a chance on us in May of 2019 sponsoring us for the Cinco de Mayo 5k Run/Walk. General Manager Joseph Rodriguez, Edwin Sanchez, Amber Kristyn Wright Gilberto Gonzales and the rest of the team at Feldman Chevrolet have given Cafecito a chance, and really the Greater Lansing Latino community a chance to build something here that not only builds community, but could lift up your families in ways you didn’t think possible.
I was born and raised in Lansing, son of former farm workers who have dedicated their lives towards helping people with no fanfare. They just do it quietly and almost effortlessly. Feldman Chevrolet offered to help Cafecito build a community. They genuinely care about people. Not just the people they serve, but the community around them. They do this because it’s the right thing to do. And they do it effortlessly and also with no fanfare. These are the kind of people that we need in Lansing – off my soapbox
